Weird Science: The Lady Gaga Story
The television is on. The music is thumping. And you feel a strange mixture of arousal and embarrassment. It’s okay. You’re not alone. Millions of us have pondered the same thing: Is Lady Gaga really a dude?
It seems like an odd question, but it’s an apparent and overwhelming one. From a distance she’s smoking hot. On the television, she’s dancing with a few pieces of shiny cloth covering her unmentionables. You’re feeling the groove, waiting for the close-up. But when it happens, you feel an earth shattering disruption inside and say to yourself, “Oh my god! Does she have an Adam’s apple?” Or maybe it’s the square jaw. Or possibly even the strange physical characteristics she seems to share with Marilyn Manson, like a distant cousin on the same messed-up family tree. Whatever your case may be, have peace, friend. She IS actually a woman.
Life
Born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta on March 28, 1986, Lady Gaga is truly a woman. Thankfully, she’s not a hermaphrodite or transvestite. She’s a woman with some strange ethereal physical qualities that force nearly everyone to question her gender. She grew up in New York and is an Italian American. She got her start at the age of 19 when she was signed onto Def Jam Records, but was dropped three months later. According to interviews, Lady Gaga then started taking drugs and dancing in burlesque shows on the Lower East Side. She was later rediscovered by an Interscope record executive and she released her first album soon after. The rest is now history.
Lovers
After the release of her first album The Fame, Lady Gaga revealed that the song “Poker Face” was about her bisexuality. She mentioned in a Rolling Stone interview how her boyfriends tended to react to her bisexuality, saying, “The fact that I’m into women, they’re all like, ‘I don’t need to have a threesome. I’m happy with just you.’ We are told that the term 'Poker Face' had to do with the 'face' she had to put on when not enjoying sex with someone.
The Bottom Line
Lady Gaga is a woman. So if you’re a straight guy and feel attracted to her, that’s cool. And if you’re a girl and you feel attracted to her, apparently that’s cool too. Lady Gaga doesn’t mind.
